  • 0.6 Structure and Presentation Style

    Version 1.6 November 2016                                        Previous Version

    Why have we adopted the hierarchical structure and this style of presentation?

    In the detail sections for this Chapter we discuss that:

    1.     The number of statements required to summarise our beliefs is comparable to others;

    2.     The current 8 high level ‘diamond’ statements are supported by 42 lower level ‘gold’ statements;

    3.     Each of the 8 parts begins with conclusions on our analytic method and ends with conclusions relating to action;

    4.     The summary statements at each level are different colours, so they stand out visually;

    5.     Secondary comments, on the implications of certain beliefs, links to relevant literature, alternative views and misleading positions, will also be visually separated from the text.

    6.     A light hearted example shows how these secondary comments will be shown.

    We’re trying to use simple words and simple phrasing for these pages.

    We assume many readers don't have much background knowledge of many of the subjects covered here.  Most people haven’t had the time, the resources, access to the information, or enough years in their life, to learn about every relevant subject.

    We’re trying to phrase this so that it can be understood (for example) by a high school student looking for answers, while still hopefully minimising misunderstandings.

    We’re also trying to outline the results of modern research, in, for example, bioethics cosmology, biochemistry, neuroscience, biblical studies and economic development. It is inevitable that most people have not done any formal study in most of these areas.

    So even though it is (hopefully) simply stated, it is (hopefully) not simplistic.

    Do know of any good images or videos for this page?

    Or any of the other pages?

    IF SO, CLICK FEEDBACK.

    Examples of the images and videos we need:

    ●   Photos of relevant people, places or artefacts.

    ●   Diagrams of molecules, historical maps related to the text, clips showing how things were used – like crossbows and nuclear bombs.

       Videos showing the expansion of the universe, or how chemical reactions work.

    ●   Videos of highly significant historical or cultural events, or images of artworks relevant to the text.

    Please tell as much identifying information as you can: a link, or the name of the image or clip (if it has one), and the creator’s name may be enough, but if you know it please also send the performers, producer/writer, year created, copyright owner, or similar details.  (We have to worry about copyright, as noted elsewhere.)

    We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of Country, throughout all colonised lands, and their connections to land, waters and community. We pay respect by giving voice to truth, values and social justice, acknowledging our shared history, and valuing the cultures of first nations peoples.
