The Global Beliefs and Values Logo â and Brief NameVersion 1.11 March 2020Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Previous Version Are you wondering about our logo â on the front page of the book, or the top of the website?
What could be a short name for a Reasonable Global Way and for followers of this Way?
Firstly, our logo shows six knowledge domains: four main areas of knowledge: philosophy, science, history and religion â underlying two areas of action â the personal and political. The seventh knowledge domain is culture (art, music, literature and so on â including various technologies and the media). This is shown as an indistinct human figure that infuses all the other areas, drawing on them for insight, pulling them together: ●   the right hand taking a theoretical analysis from Philosophy â associated most with our core values of Truth; ●   the left hand, reaching for expression, from only the best aspects of Religion â associated (as is the best of culture) with our core value of Beauty; ●   feet grounded in the practical analysis of Science and History â supported by our core values of Reality, Diversity, Life and Love; ●   head enmeshed in Personal and Political action â but also above it in some way â based on our core values of Equality and Responsibility. Our Culture â a globally aware culture that takes from all knowledge domains â is a central component of our identity. We see in an apparent order: a direction â upwards, progress, goals, reflecting our final core value of Hope that personal and political action is worthwhile. The whole image represents our Global Vision, integrating knowledge and action, into a Reasonable Global Way.
In due course, after we have done further work clarifying some more details of this Way, we can consider looking at different symbols to reflect other aspects of this Way. more (later)
Short Name: âBrandingâ We need a brief name, perhaps a new word, for a Reasonable Global Way and its followers. We are not simply Atheists. We are not Sceptics. We differ from Rationalists, Secularists and Free Thinkers. This Way is a specific variety of Humanism, but is not as open ended. Perhaps this Way is a, or the, REALigion. This is pronounced âREEL-ij-onâ emphasising the first syllable, rather than re-LIJ-on. This distinguishes this Way from religion, while emphasising its strong links to religion. Perhaps our âfollowersâ could be REALigionors (pronounced âREEL-ij-on-orsâ). In English, the ending of âorsâ in âactorsâ or âdoctorsâ implies active participants rather than passive recipients or subjects, like âemployeesâ or âfollowersâ, which end in âeesâ or âersâ.
