The Global Beliefs and Values Logo

Version 1.9 February 2017                                           Previous Version

Are you wondering about our logo – on the front page of the book, or the top of the website?

Firstly, our logo shows six knowledge domains: four main areas of knowledge: philosophy, science, history and religion – underlying two areas of action – the personal and political.

The logo doesn’t show our core choices in these domains, which reflect our core values of:

Truth, Diversity, Reality, Life, Love, Beauty, Responsibility, Equality.

The seventh knowledge domain is culture (art, music, literature and so on – including technology).  This is shown as an indistinct figure that infuses all the other areas, drawing on them for insight, pulling them together.

We can discern a human figure, confronting us, arising out of our culture, our identity:

●    the right hand taking a theoretical analysis from philosophy;

●    feet grounded in the practical analysis of science and history;

●    the left hand, reaching for expression, from religion;

●    head enmeshed in individual and social action – but also above it in some way.

Amidst the chaos we see an apparent order.

When we look at the whole thing, we perceive a direction – upwards, progress, goals, reflecting our final core value of hope!

The whole image represents integrated knowledge and action – a Reasonable Global Way.

In due course, after we have done further work clarifying some more details of this Way, we can consider looking at more symbols to reflect other aspects of tis Way.  more (later)
