  • 0.0.5 Basic Approach

    Version 1.0 July 2016 Previous Version

    The essence of this approach is:

    1. To examine what we know, what we don't know, and what we may never know,

    in all areas of knowledge, without restriction or prejudging;

    2. To clarify the options available to us,

    to prepare for when we are forced to make choices, to act or not act;

    3. To choose, when we have to, between the available options,

    regardless of how incomplete or confusing our knowledge may be;

    4. To devise guidelines for personal behaviour and political action,

    justified by reference to what we know and the options available;

    5. To assemble this into a comprehensive, coherent, consistent, compassionate course,

    that we can label as our way , to cite, and to promote to others.

    Too much analysis is overwhelming. Sometimes we just choose a path randomly and follow it blindly.

    But as soon as we realise this is the game we are playing, we lose the game. We cannot continue to pretend that we're not thinking about why we choose. That means we're back into analysis.

    Many people will disagree with the analysis presented here, the conclusions and value choices, but still agree with the approach, and join the discussion.

    Is this the best approach to analyse major issues?

    A comprehensive Way

    Here we explain how the totality of human knowledge fits together in a reasonable way that helps us to be more fulfilled and prosper globally.

    A spiritual Way

    We discuss how we should interpret so called spiritual experiences, which are real but are frequently misinterpreted.

    A faith based Way

    Even hard core Sceptics and Atheists have to have some faith, in the value of reason, and so on.Ā  We discuss how a minimal faith can lead to fulfilling lives, while retaining our rationality and grip on reality.

    A community Way

    We show how adopting this way can lead to a community of like-minded people, who are reasonable, not off with the fairies, practical, living fulfilling lives, and political, addressing the major critical issues of our time, all with a sense of a shared reality – a community!

    This Reasonable Global Way covers a wider scope than traditional religions, and is a better basis for belief, value and action than alternative philosophies.

    We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of Country, throughout all colonised lands, and their connections to land, waters and community. We pay respect by giving voice to truth, values and social justice, acknowledging our shared history, and valuing the cultures of first nations peoples.
